Michael Fassbender as he appears in the trailer for Danny Boyle’s Steve Jobs
Danny Boyle’s Steve Jobs will be the centerpiece gala at this year’s New York Film Festival. Michael Fassbender leads as the titular Apple titan, while Seth Rogen supports as computer pioneer Steve Wozniak and Kate Winslet as Joanna Hoffman, original member of the Mac team.
Previous NYFF centerpiece galas include Paul Thomas Anderson’s Inherent Vice (2014), Ben Stiller’s The Secret Life of Walter Mitty (2013), and David Chase’s Not Fade Away (2012). Only one (Vice) cracked the Oscar race in any way, but I have more faith in this one – Aaron Sorkin wrote the script for Jobs, so we should be in for another Social Network-style treat.
Jobs, released by Universal Pictures, hits theaters on Oct. 9, 2015.
