A24 has set Lenny Abrahamson’s captivity drama Room for limited release on Oct. 16. The film will hit theaters nationwide on Nov. 6.

Brie Larson leads as a mother held hostage with her son, played by Jacob Tremblay. Joan Allen and William H. Macy also star.

Room will have its Canadian premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival; this means the film may debut at Telluride (or maybe Venice?) beforehand.

Larson’s leading performance is perhaps the most obvious contender here, though Tremblay may impact the season if love for Room as a whole is big enough. Allen and Macy might make Oscar comeback, while Emma Donoghue’s adaptation of her own novel may snag some attention in the adapted-screenplay race.
