Lionsgate and Roadside Attractions will release Catherine Hardwicke’s Miss You Already on Nov. 6. Drew Barrymore and Toni Collette lead as lifelong besties whose friendship hits a snag as the former struggles to conceive while the latter battles breast cancer.
The dramedy was announced for a gala screening at the Toronto International Film Festival earlier today. With a November release and a TIFF bow, this may be Collette’s first time at bat since The Sixth Sense (1999) – and Barrymore’s first-ever time in the ring.
While Collette’s role looks like the winner on paper, consider that Barrymore won a Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild Award for the telefilm Grey Gardens (2009), though her co-star – two-time Academy Award winner Jessica Lange – won the Emmy earlier in the year. While that was a few years ago, it shows that the industry loves Barrymore; if this project is a winner, maybe she’ll win, too.
Category fraud may rear its ugly head with Miss You Already, but let’s hope for the best.
