About the Film

Role: Philippe Petit, a French high-wire artist who attempts to cross the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center in 1974

U.S. Distributor: TriStar
U.S. Release Date: Oct. 2, 2015
Festivals:

  • New York Film Festival (2015) – Opening Film (Sept. 25)

Why? The best actor race could use some new blood, and Gordon-Levitt’s “paid his dues,” as they say. The New York Film Festival’s selection of The Walk as its opening film suggests there’s something special here…

Why not? Or that the fest caters to Robert Zemeckis; The Walk looks more like a commercial play than anything else, despite the NYFF gig. Gordon-Levitt’s French accent in the trailers thus far is… less than promising.

Notes

Ranking: No. 9 as of Sept. 10, 2015
