About the Film

Role: Dr. Louise Banks, an expert linguist who is recruited by the military to determine whether they come in peace or are a threat

Why? Amy Adams and Denis Villeneuve? Sounds like a match made in heaven. If nothing else, this could be a box-office hit for Paramount.

Why not? Genre bias and Villeneuve bias will hurt, for sure. Adams also stars in Tom Ford’s Nocturnal Animals, for which she could probably go lead or supporting. Paramount has so many offerings on the plate at present; surely something will fall by the wayside.

Ranking: No. 9 as of Apr. 15, 2016
