Why I thought it could happen: McCarthy finally broke through with Globe voters last year. She also has the Ghostbusters reboot out this summer. I assumed another Globe nod could be in the cards for this comedy – McCarthy’s second outing with actor-hubby Ben Falcone as a co-writer and director.

Why it’s not happening: The reviews were rightfully tragic; The Boss is hardly a strong showcase for McCarthy’s comic skills, never mind her overall acting range. Hopefully Ghostbusters will cleanse the palate. (You’re still the best, Melissa.)
