Best Animated Feature Film 2015

Underdogs, a.k.a. Metegol, lives up to its name, as The Weinstein Co. removed the feature from its upcoming slate of releases for 2015.

Inside Out leads the pack for now, obviously. Minions may pass its stateside gross in the coming weeks, but even if the yellow blobs do sneak into the lineup, the critics will keep them from winning. Reviews for Shaun the Sheep Movie keep it in the conversation, but its domestic box office hardly helps. The Peanuts Movie and The Good Dinosaur look like the next (only remaining?) wide releases that could make an impact here.

My official predictions include only films set for distribution in the United States. The process of guessing what will and will not make the cut always seems to be collaborative, so feel free to leave a comment (or a tweet) that addresses any relevant concerns. Consider everything here in limbo, as eligibility here tends to change at the drop of a hat.

  2. The Good Dinosaur (more)

  3. When Marnie Was There (more)

In Limbo

I regard these films as ineligible at the moment, because a) the films might not hit theaters this year due to distributors’ schedules or their not being ready, or b) the films lack stateside distribution altogether. But as anyone who follows this mess knows, things can change at a moment’s notice.

  1. Anomalisa (more)
  2. Mune, le gardien de la lune, or Mune, The Guardian of the Moon (more)
