Role: Max Simkin, who repairs shoes… and can literally step into the lives of others thanks to a family heirloom
- Toronto International Film Festival (2014) – World Premiere
Why? Sandler’s flirted with awards-season kudos before – his work in Punch-Drunk Love (2002) picked up Golden Globe and Satellite nods. Working with Thomas McCarthy might get him the gold. He also stars in Jason Reitman’s black comedy Men, Women & Children…
Why not? Voters might take Reitman’s film more seriously than The Cobbler, which is already giving me flashbacks to The Secret Life of Walter Mitty (2013).
