Role: Amy Phillips, a student of Jim Bennett (Mark Wahlberg), a lit professor with a gambling problem
Why? The Gambler looked like a “box office first, maybe awards later” situation, but the “surprise” announcement of an awards-qualifying release suggests that it might be a presence on the awards trail. Regardless, Short Term 12 (2013) showed us that Larson is the real deal; she could make some serious waves this season if The Gambler gives her enough to do. Amy Adams picked up a nomination the last time Mark Wahlberg led a major Oscar player.
Why not? Is Larson lead or supporting?
