Why? Jones has been on Hollywood’s radar since Sundance hit Like Crazy (2011), but this has proven to be her true breakthrough. This kind of role can go all the way.
Why not? The last six winners had more-established careers before their wins – and usually had previous nominations; the last breakthrough performance to win this was Marion Cotillard in 2007. She and fellow Brit breakthrough Rosamund Pike might split votes.
