Best Original Song 2014: “Battle Cry” from Transformers: Age of Extinction

Charts (U.S.):

  • Billboard Hot Rock Songs: No. 24
  • Billboard Rock Digital Songs: No. 13

Why? With hits like “It’s Time” and “Radioactive,” Imagine Dragons became one of the only legitimate rock bands to break through to pop radio – with more than one song – over the last several years.

Why not? Imagine Dragons’ relevance in the industry would only help if the band had recorded a song for a less-maligned franchise; frankly, different material would have helped, too. Also, how seriously will the music branch – let alone the motion-picture academy as a whole – take Age of Extinction

Personal Thoughts: It’s nice to hear an Imagine Dragons tune with a bit of an edge; not quite as compelling as “Demons” and “It’s Time” or as catchy as “On Top of the World” and “Tiptoe,” though.
