Why? Oscar loves artist biopics, and they certainly love Mike Leigh. Character actor Timothy Spall finally has a shot at an Oscar nomination – let alone the gold; that might boost sentiment for this flick.
Why not? It might be too stodgy, too “prim and proper” for Oscar voters to appreciate when all is said and done.
