My official predictions include only films set for distribution in the United States. The process of guessing what will and will not make the cut always seems to be collaborative, so feel free to leave a comment (or a tweet) that addresses any relevant concerns. Consider everything here in limbo, as eligibility here tends to change at the drop of a hat.

Predicted Nominees

  1. The Hunting Ground (more)

  2. Steve Jobs: Man in the Machine (more)

  3. Going Clear: Scientology and the Prison of Belief (more)

  4. What Happened, Miss Simone? (more)

  5. Seymour: An Introduction (more)

Next in Line?

  1. NEW!!! Kurt Cobain: Montage of Heck (more)
  2. NEW!!! Amy (more)
  3. The Wrecking Crew (more)
  4. The Look of Silence (more)
  5. Matt Shepard is a Friend of Mine (more)

Other Possibilities

  1. Lambert & Stamp (more)
  2. Misery Loves Comedy (more)
  3. Beyond the Brick: A LEGO Brickumentary (more)

Long Shots

In Limbo

I regard these films as ineligible at the moment, because a) the films might not hit theaters this year due to distributors’ schedules or their not being ready, or b) the films lack stateside distribution altogether. But as anyone who follows this mess knows, things can change at a moment’s notice.

  1. The State of Marriage (more)
  2. Prophet’s Prey (more)
