Why? While Justin Timberlake may want to cross over into film the way Frank Sinatra, Barbra Streisand, and Cher did, it may be his credibility in the music world and overall industry clout that helps him get in at the Oscars for doing what he does best – making fun, danceable pop tunes. Hey, if a similarly vibrant song from (of all films) Despicable Me 2 (2013) can contend for the win, why can’t this happen?
Why not? While this is easily the biggest movie-soundtrack hit of the year (sorry, P!nk and Shakira), its connection to the narrative of the film itself is currently vague, as we’ve yet to see the film; songs’ connection(s) to the films themselves can be crucial in determining whether songs receive Oscar recognition. On that note, this is the Trolls movie…
